The mission of the Statewide Independent Living Council of Hawaii  is to promote independent living and the integration of persons with disabilities into the community and to aid individuals in achieving their goals and basic human rights.

Statewide Independent Living Council of Hawai'i is made up of representatives from around the State, appointed by the Governor. The majority of our Council is represented by persons with disabilities.  It is a not for profit, non-Governmental, consumer controlled organization, which develops, monitors and evaluates the federally-funded State Plan for Independent Living in the State of Hawai'i. It promotes the independent living philosophy statewide and provides support and technical assistance to the Independent Living Center in Hawai'i, which consists currently of five community based organizations run by and for people with disabilities.
